Day 51 - Oct. 24th at 5:45 am I was interviewed live (no editing) on KLFY TV 10 Lafayette morning show with Melinda Taylor the Executive Director of Habitat Lafayette. After that we were then off to visit the Habitat build site were 4 out of a 12 home project were under construction. They had 50 Job Corp. workers (see pic below) from various locations including Oklahoma, Texas and Kansas on site. There are here for about a week and then a new group will come in to continue the construction work. The enthusiasm and hard work was evident by this group. The homes were 2, 3 and 4 bedrooms with appox. 950 to 1250 sq. ft. Because of the recent hurricane issues there is a significant shortage of housing in the area. The Lafayette Habitat has a goal of building 12 to 15 homes per year!

In summary we really enjoyed our visit to Lafayette, as we live in Lafayette CA. it was fun to see the differences. Thanks to the Lafayette Habitat staff for allowing us to experience your organization. It looks like you are doing a GREAT job in helping meeting the housing needs in your area.
