Days 47, 49 and 49 - Oct. 20 - 22nd we stayed in Ville Platte, LA. as I had a number of Board calls (work) that took 2 to 6 hours each along with a lot of document reading. So we got "Motel Fever" after 3 days being spent in a Best Western. On Monday I rode 75 miles from De Ridder to Ville Platte. The roads were flat with wide shoulders but had to constantly be alert for potholes, large cracks and debris of all types. Hit one of these wrong and at a minimum I might get a big jolt and/or tossed from my bike....so I had to keep watch. For a good part of the day I rode on dikes with trees....lots of trees and lots rice fields. Overall it is a very attractive country.

NOTE - Even this far from Galveston there is still a lot amount of debris from Hurricane Ike that has not been cleared up yet. Roofs are still in need of repair, signs were down and many trees were damaged.
