Day 38...Sunscreen

Day 38 - Oct. 11th I did not start riding until about noon today as I had to do a couple of business phone calls this morning.  I rode 44 miles with good roads and little wind through farming country which seems to be mostly in hay along with cattle roaming and a couple oil wells pumping.  I passed through a number of small towns that had lots of historical significance.  Many of the towns were once larger then they are today as they have shrunk due to lack of jobs in the area and not being located near a major highway.  Warrenton TX. was a small town with maybe six buildings all closed with no stoplights.

A number of people have asked me about my bicycling outfit.  It does seem a little funny I must admit.  Due to significant pre-cancerous skin issues I try to keep my entire body covered with clothing and sunscreen.  In fact, one ear was significantly trimmed by a doctor and was repaired with skin from my ass....(no smart ass comments please!).  I wear black tights all the time to protect my skin from the sun.  People have stated black is not a good color to use but it beats my only other options of blue or pink....so black with do!  I wear a hiking hat under my helmet most of the time too.  Most mornings I am heading East, directly into the sun so I have to also cover my face with sunscreen SPF50.  See below for a lovely pic Barb took the other morning.
