Austin Texas Habitat Visit!

Day 36 - Oct. 9th we visited the Austin Texas Habitat for Humanity ReStore which is a 35,000 foot facility, and the first in the nation, that takes new and slightly used building materials and sells them to the public which in turn raises money for Habitat for Humanity.  These materials which might be thrown away or unused are saved from landfills and allows people to purchase needed materials at a reduced price.  Oakland Habitat also has a very successful ReStore too!

The area where the Austin Habitat ReStore is located is in a section that is being "Gentrified".  The residents in the area use the ReStore as their hardware store.  Eventually the property will be to valuable to maintain the ReStore.  At that time it will be sold and the funds will be used to relocate and continue with the Habitat vision.  It was great to see this additional part of Habitat for Humanity.  Below is a picture with Austin ReStore Managers and Volunteers.  Thank you for having me to your site!

I also had another TV interview with the Austin CBS affiliate KEYE 42.  (See Pic below) and we hope to have the video clip up very soon.
