Phoenix AZ. Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona Stop

Day 11 - Sept. 12th we finally reached our first of 10 Habitat Stops in Peoria AZ. at 9:00am Friday.  We got the chance to meet some of the staff and volunteers on their the work site and we discovered that they were a very active and enthusiastic organization from our observations.  They expect to build 43 new homes in the 2009 year and already have a large number under construction.  They are making a real contribution to the Peoria AZ. community and it reinforced my belief in the Habitat organization and why I am riding across the country for them to raise awareness and funds.  Thank you for the Central Arizona Habitat Organization for all your support and hard work.

We decided to take two days in Phoenix to rest and repack our belongings.  My oldest son Mike came up from Tucson with his girlfriend Tina and we were able to relax and catch up.  Mike is also a big biker himself and was able to make some needed adjustments to my bike.  I will start up again on Saturday as it is 540 miles to El Paso TX. which is our next Habitat Stop.  I only have 325 miles to go to reach the Continental Divide which has an elevation of 8200 feet!!
